On Wednesday, February 3, the roar of the powerful engines of the 4400 class thundered in Hammertown to decide who would be fastest in qualifying for the King of the Hammers. This year the fastest was JP Juan Rail Gomez (1: 36.459) followed by Jason Scherer (1: 36.529) and Bryan Crofts (1: 36.689).

Tuesday 2nd February was an adrenaline-pumping day in Hammertown. The All Balls Racing King of the Motos was held, won by the young Trystan Hart and in the short course took place the qualifications for the 4WP Every Man Challenge. David Hartman was the fast overall qualifier (1:52.66).

After an amazing weekend dedicated to the Toyo Tires Desert Challenge Presented by Monster Energy T1 Desert Invitational, on Monday 1st February took place the qualifying for the UTV race (Jay Shaw got the first position on the starting grid) and in the evening the long-awaited and spectacular Shootout won by Chris Kaufman.

Since 2011, the year of my first visit to Johnson Valley, I have never missed a King of the Hammers. This year, due to the pandemic, I will not be able to be there in the Lakebed to photograph the the best Ultra4 drivers. I will not miss a race like many others but a whole series of emotions that only those who have been in Lakebed can understand.
